Sexing Males will display more colouration and have extended dorsal and anal fins. Breeding This species of cichlid are harem breeders. The male will fertilise several batches of eggs with several different females at the same time. The females will normally lay their eggs on the roof of caves which can be made with upturned plant pots. When the fry are free swimming they can be fed on newly hatched brine shrimp.
