Use a quality flake or pellets for the staple diet but offer treats once or twice a week of brine shrimp or blood worms. Origin South America; Zebra acara is only found in the Rio Negro Basins of Brazil. Sexing Males will have elongated dorsal and anal fins, when breeding the markings on the male will darken. During this time the female will have a pinkish tinge on her body colouration. Breeding Zebra acara’s prefer to spawn in caves so either add rockwork or upturned plant pots to the breeding tank. The female will guard the eggs while the male defends the territory and 2 days later the eggs should hatch. About 4 days later the fry should be free swimming and can be fed on crushed flake or newly hatched brine shrimp. Lifespan The expected life span of Nannacara adoketa is 5 years.
